Jordan from Live Near Friends here. I lead Custom Compound delivery at Live Near Friends, which means I help groups of friends and family turn "we should all live near each other" into an actual construction project.

It usually starts the same way. A couple with a new baby does the math on childcare and realizes the answer they want to live in a home where family is 30 steps away, not 30 minutes. Three families who want to stay in their neighborhood spend a year looking for a triplex that doesn't exist and begin to wonder if they could build something instead. Four friends who've been talking about living near one another in their group chat for years decide their serious about figuring out next steps.

To explain how this all works we started running a webinar on the Custom Friend Compound process over the summer. It answered that question for a lot of people all at once, so we've decided to continue it on Thursdays at 12:30pm through the fall.

The hardest question for most groups is finding a property that allows them to build their specific vision. It's difficult to tell from an online listing whether a lot can be split, or whether something about the site makes your plan far more expensive than it looks.

Live Near Friends tracks what's actually buildable as listings come on the market, screening for the things that decide whether a compound is possible at all. After each webinar, I'll meet with anyone who wants to talk about their own situation in further detail, and we can go through real properties that could be a good fit.
